Deborah Okenla is Membership Manager of Huckletree West. Launched in September 2017, Huckletree’s first West London location brings together a thriving community of startups, scaleups, creatives and innovation teams disrupting the lifestyle and tech industries.
Formerly at IncuBus Ventures, Deborah played a pivotal role in the launch of their scale-up programme, working with mentors including Facebook, Instagram, Depop and 01 Ventures. Following this, Deborah worked with Capital Enterprise to launch their investment programme alongside Data Pitch, a Europe-wide accelerator offering startups equity-free funding to innovate with data.
A passionate advocate for black women in the tech industry, Deborah founded YSYS; a thriving community championing diverse entrepreneurs and creatives, and is a #poctech Champion at Google Campus London. She was recently named in the TechWomen50 Awards, celebrating emerging female talent in tech. She is passionate about diversity and recently wrote an article highlighting the lack of visibility of black women in tech, catching the attention of Cindy Gallop, Mike Butcher, Virgin and many others.
Education/Qualification: LLB European Law, University of Kent.
Fun Fact: I ran half a marathon in the Czech Republic.
